What is 'Dragonfly Play & Learn'?
'Dragonfly Play & Learn' is a small centre providing a long day care and preschool service for children aged 2 to 6 years, located in the suburb of Leanyer. With a maximum capacity of 16 children, we provide a unique early childhood environment that is nurturing, child centred and individualised. We have a high ratio of educators to children, and this is a pivotal factor within the vision for 'Dragonfly Play & Learn' in providing an exceptional level of learning in the early years.
As a team of early learning practitioners, we view our roles at 'Dragonfly Play & Learn' as facilitators of exploration, discovery, creativity and relationships. Our staff are highly experienced and share a strong philosophical understanding of childhood and learning.
Our Preschool Program, inviting children from 4 years up to 6 years
8:15am to 2:45pm
Children learn through play. Play offers the rich foundation children need to hypothesise and test theories, take risks, invent, make mistakes, ask questions, foster relationships, build competencies, refine skills, and prepare for life both present and future.
Children are constructors of knowledge and our educators position themselves as co-learners, valuing a learning journey that the child and the teacher navigate together. Through collaboration and reflection between families, children and educators, our preschool program emerges from the Northern Territory Preschool Curriculum. Notions of literacy and numeracy are strategically inserted into the child’s every day undertakings so that they become a tool within the child's everyday experiences.
Our Long Day Care Program, inviting children from 3 years up to 6 years
7:00am to 5:00pm
At 'Dragonfly Play & Learn' we understand the work and lifestyle commitments of our families. To ensure that your child receives enriched learning and care for the hours you need, we provide long day care from 7:30am until 5:00pm Monday to Friday. For a preschooler this would mean that they are supported by our expert early years educators throughout the whole day, not only between the preschool program hours.
The Early Years Learning Framework provides the foundation on which curriculum decisions are built. Even our youngest learners are involved in the process of planning for rich learning possibilities. As the learning journey of each child progresses, the successes and challenges are documented to be shared with families and reflected on by the children and educators.
